Renovated Fair Lawn Food Pantry Recently Dedicated

The food pantry operated out of a converted closet with "ugly walls and awful shelves," according to Director Liz Twiggs. It now sports modern, sturdy shelves, among other features.

Wigod was a Fair Lawn resident from 1975 until her death in 2002, at 93. Her son, Seymour Wigod, and his family had set aside a portion of their inheritance to use for the borough, NorthJersey.com reported in 2014. But the right opportunity didn't come along, her son said, until he heard about the state of the food pantry.

Earlier this month, Fair Lawn Mayor John Cosgrove met with the Wigod family to dedicate the beautified food pantry to Edith Wigod.

Donations of food and personal products are accepted year-round. They can be delivered to room 112 of Borough Hall, 8-01 Fair Lawn Ave. For large donations, call 201-794-5333 before delivery.
