Johnstown 13U baseball team wins first Pony World Series game

Sherry's Bulldogs, a 13U baseball team from Johnstown, competed against the Covina, California all-stars at 1 p.m. Friday and won 7-2 in their first-round matchup of the Pony League World Series.

JD Brouse pitched 5 1/3 inning, allowing two runs on two hits, five walks, and struck out seven.

Brouse and Conner Bennett led the team with two hits each.

Players said they came into the tournament confident, and this win gives them more confidence they can make a run.

The team said this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and they plan on taking advantage of it.
