MEYERSDALE, Pa. (WJAC) — Saturday was the fifth annual Trucks for Smiles event, hosted at the fairgrounds in Meyersdale.
There were semitrailers, pickup trucks and even ambulances lining up at the Somerset Fairgrounds to participate in the Trucks for Smiles convoy.
The event started as a one-time event, but has now grown due to its success.
There were raffles, a live auction, food and lots of activities for kids, but what's most exciting about the day is the fact that 100 percent of the proceeds is donated to Make-A-Wish so kids have an opportunity to get their wish granted.
One mother to a Make-A-Wish child, Melody Pletzer, said she likes seeing the number of people who come and support the wish kids and their families.
“The kids are going through the medical issues and their families are there with them, so it is so much love and support," Pletzer said.
Seeing all the support and the money raised makes those involved with Make-A-Wish feel very thankful.
"It's an amazing feeling, it is so heartwarming,” Pletzer said. “I can't say thank you enough."
